TRIVIA AND HUMOR CORNER:

A DAY IN HISTORY: September 7th:1813 - The nickname "Uncle Sam" was first used as a symbolic reference to      the United States in an editorial in the Troy Post of New York. 1888 - Edith Eleanor McLean was the first baby to      be in an incubator. At birth she weighed 2 pounds, 7 ounces. The incubator was first called a hatching cradle.1940      - In World War II, the German airforce under Hermann Goering began its "Blitz" bombing campaign on London.     More than 300 people were killed on this day alone.1977 - Panama and the United States signed a treaty by which     the United States would maintain control of the Panama Canal until noon of December 31, 1999, after which the     Canal would be officially Panamanian. This treaty superseded the 1903 treaty that granted the United States     control of the Canal in perpetuity.1979 - At 7:00p.m. EDT, a show called SportsCenter debuted on a new cable     station called the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network -- ESPN. Sportscaster Lee Leonard introduced     the show and the network with the following words: "If you're a fan, what you see in the next minutes, hours, and     days to follow may convince you you've gone to sports heaven."

This weeks Trivia question: Approximately many Rotarians belong to more than how many Rotary clubs located in     how many countries?

Last weeks Trivia question answer: A new video first for Rotary, what is it? Moving pictures: the first Rotarian video     magazine. Go here.

WORD OF THE DAY: petulant Pronunciation: /PECH-uh-lunt/ adj : very impatient or irritable; peevish
"Any school teacher who is chronically petulant is in the wrong business."

USELESS WORD PUZZLE: The police found a man hanging in an empty room. There was nothing in the room he     could have use to reach the ceiling. All they found when they entered the room was a puddle under the hanging     man. How did he hang himself?

WEEKLY QUOTATION:  "Life consists of problems, living is solving those problems. You should live life to its     fullest and never look back on the past." - Unknown

A DOSE OF HUMOR: There were three men in a boat halfway across the lake. The first man suddenly said,     "I forgot my lunch," got out of the boat, and walked to shore on top of the water.

Later, the second man said, "I forgot my fishing tackle," and also walked across the water to shore.

By this time, the third man thought to himself, "They're not going to outsmart me. I forgot my bait can," and he     started to walk across the water, but he sank.

The first man said to the second, "Maybe we should have told him where the rocks were."

COMPUTERS The Internet is a favorite tool for genealogical enthusiasts. There are countless genealogical Web sites on the Internet. But it would be difficult to search them all.

So if you're looking for a good place to find information about your family tree, try Family Search.

Family Search will comb vital records, the Social Security Death Index and other Web sites. It will even perform international searches.

This is a great start to find out more about your family. Then when your kids start asking about your family history, you'll have something to show them. Go here
